As an entrepreneur, you have a lot that you’d love to achieve over the next few weeks, months, and years. When you take the time to develop a growth mindset through goal setting, you’re going to start seeing results.

Most of us have a vision for what we want to accomplish in our businesses and personal lives. But when it comes to putting pen to paper, manifesting, or even strategizing our goals, things start to slip through the cracks.

When you develop a growth mindset, you set yourself up for success through clear planning and strategic goals. Things become more achievable, and you’ll start to see results and feel way more motivated to keep working hard in your business.

What Is A Growth Mindset?

Let’s start out by discussing what it actually means to develop a growth mindset.

When we set goals, we go from wanting something to creating a plan to reach that destination. But often, we don’t know how to plan the path from goal to achievement.

That’s where a growth mindset comes into play! With a growth mindset, you inherently believe that you can build what comes naturally to you and start achieving your goals. No goal seems too big or far out of reach—in part because you take the time to plan your goals realistically.

When you develop a growth mindset, you learn to, well…love learning! You also become way more resilient and aren’t deterred by setbacks or failures.

With this type of mindset, you’re able to accomplish big things without feeling stressed or overwhelmed. And without those negative emotions, you’re more likely to move from Point A to Point B in achieving your goals.

As you start to develop a growth mindset, you’ll focus on becoming who you want to be—and you’ll believe in your ability to get there. Then, you create actionable, attainable goals broken down into manageable steps.

You realize that making a long-term change takes time and consistency. Here’s an example. Wanting to make more money isn’t a smart goal, but posting consistently about your business on social media in specific campaigns (that could lead to more revenue) fits into a growth mindset.

Fixed Mindset VS Growth Mindset

As you work to develop a growth mindset, you shift away from a fixed mindset. But what’s the difference between the two?

With a fixed mindset, you:

  • Feel that your personality traits are 100% fixed and unchangeable
  • Believe that most things are out of your control
  • Fear failure (and feel defined by your past failures)
  • Blame others for problems
  • Make excuses when you fail
  • Focus on things you can’t control

Clearly, those tendencies don’t lead you toward feeling good about yourself or achieving your goals.

But when you develop a growth mindset, you:

  • Know without a doubt that you can change for the better
  • Believe in the power of hard work
  • Shape your own positive habits and work to improve
  • Aren’t afraid of failure, and aren’t ashamed about past failures
  • Prioritize long-term change over short-term gains
  • Love learning
  • Take on challenges with the belief that you can succeed
  • Focus only on what you can control

No matter which one of these mindsets you currently relate to, it’s possible to make a change.

How To Develop A Growth Mindset

Now let’s talk about how to actually develop a growth mindset! These strategies will help you move forward and start achieving your goals.

Manifest Your Goals With Specific Language

When we talk about our goals, we often say things like “I hope” or “I want to.” But these statements leave room for not achieving those goals!

Manifestation is powerful for making your vision become reality. That’s why, as you come up with your goals, use solid, concrete language. Use statements and phrasing like “I am” and “I successfully achieve” to write goals that feel primed for success.

Set A Timeframe For Achieving Your Goals

You also need to set a clear, specific timeline for each of your goals.

Instead of letting your goals stretch out indefinitely, be specific about when you want to achieve them! Or, even more importantly, set timeframes for specific progress markers along the way to your larger goals.

This is helpful for lots of reasons. You’ll be able to focus on progress over perfection. But you’ll also be able to assess whether your current goal strategy is achievable!

Break Your Goals Down To Develop A Growth Mindset

Speaking of keeping your goals achievable, it’s time to break things down. Once you assess the time frame of part of your goal steps, you can break them down further into more steps if needed.

The smaller the steps are to your goal, the more likely you are to achieve them.

Look At Your Goals Within The Broader Scope Of Your Life

You need to make sure that each of your goals slots into your life as a whole. It’s really easy to want something, but you need to know whether it’s realistic.

For example, let’s say you want to start getting up earlier, but you’re a total night owl and find it hard to wind down each night. Finding a different way to reach your goal might be important. You’ll have to slowly, gradually work toward your overall goal!

You should also consider the changes that accompany one goal. If the long-term goal is to work out each morning before you head to the office, but you hate getting up early, shifting your bedtime is going to be the “baby goal” on the way to the bigger one.

Create Accountability By Sharing Your Goals With Someone Else

There’s nothing more important than accountability! And one of the best ways to create accountability for yourself is to tell someone else what you’re doing.

Whether you join a Facebook group in your niche and share a post about your goal, or you text a friend or biz bestie, tell someone about your goals and ambitions.

This builds community and helps you feel like someone is cheering you on! Plus, you know someone is waiting to see what you accomplish—so you’re more likely to work consistently on your goal.

Working to develop a growth mindset is one of the best things you can do as an entrepreneur. These subtle shifts are going to revolutionize the way you achieve your goals!
